Raul Pardo
Antibody Team Leader
(Subcontractor)
Raul Pardo is the Antibody Team Manager at Valerio. He is responsible for the nanobody (Nb) production and bioconjugation Team, guaranteeing the production of batches of Nbs and Nb-drug conjugates prior to testing and validation through in vitro and in vivo assessment.
During his early years in Spain, Raul developed an interest in biochemistry. Over the course of 15 years, he developed an in-depth understanding of some signaling messengers operating in neurons and glial cells and the mechanisms behind some degenerative diseases, such as Huntington’s disease. Throughout his academic career, Raul has been fascinated by the growing role of antibodies in therapy. In 2015, he joined Spirogen, a London-based biotech company focused on antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) technology for oncology. As part of the conjugation team, Raul was responsible for the R&D-grade production of ADCs for internal projects or external collaborations. He extended his expertise in the ADC field, working for 7 years at the French CRO MImAbs, supporting the pre-IND work of several ADCs now in clinical stage development.
A believer in the power of technology to accelerate progress in healthcare, Raul is developing the internal capacities at Valerio for the optimal production of Nbs and Nb-drug conjugates, contributing to the transformation of the company into a main biotech player in autoimmunity, inflammation, and oncology therapeutic areas. He is committed to building an inclusive team that reflects Valerio’s diversity and leadership values.
Raul earned his PhD from UAB in Barcelona, Spain, and followed postdoctoral trainings at the Institut Curie (Paris) and Kings’s College London.
